Graduate Student Conference Roundtable Abstract Submission

College of Education Graduate Student Conference 2025

Thank you for your interest in presenting at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College of Education Graduate Student Conference 2025.

We are accepting submissions for developing works or finished original scholarship.

Please follow the guidelines below for your submission. If you have questions, please email gsc@education.illinois.edu.

Roundtable Session Details

Roundtable sessions allow maximum interaction among presenters and attendees. Roundtables are intended for the presentation of research projects that are not yet completed but are sufficiently far along for the researchers to share their work and to contribute to a substantive discussion. Graduate students presenting at the roundtables should be able to prepare a working paper that sets forth their research, specify their current stage in the research process, and describe salient issues related to their research project such as findings. Several researchers are grouped by theme and give a short “elevator pitch” about their work (2-3 minutes). Informal discussion between researchers and guests about the topic will follow.

You may bring a handout to share with the audience or a single slide which you would share on your laptop screen.

Research shared in roundtable sessions often includes tentative findings and conclusions to set the stage for discussions. Presenters will not be able to change their format after December 31, 2024.

Eligibility

  • Conference abstract submitters must be a student enrolled in an accredited graduate program or registered for a graduate class in an accredited university.

  • Interested applicants may submit more than one abstract form and may present more than once at the conference.

Session Information

Roundtable sessions will consist of 3 -5 papers grouped by the committee and clustered around shared interests. Each roundtable at a roundtable session will have a designated chair who will facilitate interaction and participation. Because the emphasis will be on interaction, there will be no discussants or formal presentation of papers as there are in paper session. Each roundtable session will be scheduled for a 50-minute time slot. Because of the emphasis on brief presentations and discussion, no audiovisual equipment or a power source will be provided. Authors wishing to display brief information may do so from their own tablet or laptop computer. Authors participating in virtual roundtable sessions may use the share screen function in Zoom, if they wish to display information.
